I am a lively, highly motivated, and detail oriented graduate with a concentration in German language and literature and a Master’s degree in secondary foreign language education. I am a certified Secondary German teacher in the state of Tennessee. I'm an open minded and creative individual who has moved back to the Atlanta area after spending a year abroad. In that time I lived in Vienna, Austria from 10/2011-7/2012. I am a native speaker in English & German and have both German & American citizenship.
During my time in Vienna I was working in two schools through the Fulbright Commission/ the Austrian American Education Commission (AAEC). I was responsible for preparing and teaching entire lessons while addressing the needs of various English classes (students ages 11-18) and working with a total of 11 colleagues. The intention of my program and presence in the classroom was to bridge the gap between Austrian and American cultures and to assist as a native English speaker.
During my Master's year (2010-2011) I was an intern German teacher in Knox County. I was responsible for creating and developing all materials for my German I and II; additionally responsible for classroom discipline and assessment. I collaborated with my mentors and fellow interns. While teaching I periodically used Skype in the classroom to expose my students to German “Gymnasium” students, to foster an interest in language learning, and to provide additional auditory and verbal practice.
I am currently working in Social Media Marketing in the greater Atlanta area and my long term goal is to return to Vienna.
