Hello! My name is Renee D. and my most recent job was as a part-time Adult ESL instructor. I live in Atlanta and teach in Norcross. I am certified to teach English/Language Arts (ELA) for Grades 4-12, and I am also certified in Global TESOL. I teach English grammar, phonics, and "functional English" to my students. I also teach life skills, such as how to conduct oneself during an interview, and aspects of American culture, including holidays.
I originally went into teaching through substitute teaching, and I taught all subjects for Grades Pre-K through eight. I received my certification and taught three years in public schools: one year I taught ninth-grade ELA and two years I taught seventh-grade ELA.
I use worksheets, role-playing, student participation, and games to teach my students, since there are many ways for students to learn. I do the best that I can to make sure students learn before moving on to the next lesson. I want to make sure that my students, not just by being taught, but by learning on their own.
