Hello! I am Devonique S., a recent graduate of Marquette University. I have a background in education. I have taught 2nd-8th math and reading. My passion for education has led me to be a 2012 Teach for America Corp Member.
I believe that when tutoring it is very important to start where the child is but to push his or her thinking about content areas. I believe in developing the child's meta-cognitive abilities so that no math problem or vocab is too big for her or him to conquer. I believe that I could be an agent of social change right now through a relentless pursuit of results and instilling within students the idea and utility of possessing disciplined thought. I would hope that as a result of our interaction, my students/tutees would choose to be dedicated, hard-working individuals who are committed to success and will not settle for anything else.
