I am a recent graduate of the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a Bachelor Degree in Harp Performance. I have a strong background in music theory, music pedagogy, music history and harp performance. At IU, I was part of the Honors Class for music theory for a year. I am very passionate about classical music and I want to share my love for music with my students. Even though assignments will be given to the students to complete at home, I can still help them improve by working only during tutoring hours. Ear Training

While working on my bachelor's degree in music, I took four semesters of intensive ear training. I am able to recognize intervals, chords, chord progressions and to write melody and rhythm dictation. In order to train my students I will start with easy note recognition, then short melodies and intervals. Later I will introduce them to basic chords and then chord progressions. Also rhythm dictations will be given.

General Music

I have been playing piano for 17 years and harp for 12 years, and I am a professional musician. I also took music theory from elementary school throughout college. I also have experience as a harp teacher. Many times my students start lessons with no knowledge of music and I have to teach them everything about music while teaching them harp lessons.

Music History

While at IU Jacobs school of music, I took two intensive semesters of music history. I also took music history classes throughout middle school and high school. I have many methods of making diagrams and organizing information so that it is easy to remember. Along with information about composers and styles divided by time periods, I also use music recordings that exemplify those characteristics. I have been playing the piano for 17 years. I started lessons when I was in elementary school and I play at a intermediate level. I can teach basic technique alongside with musical notions and musicality.

Sight Singing

I took sight singing classes starting in elementary school all throughout college. While in college I learned many ways in which students can discover ways to hear tonality and easily sight sing based on that knowledge. I have methods and exercise books that get gradually more difficult and that build upon the already existing skills.
