Algebra 1

Algebra expands upon the lessons learned during arithmetic. It concerns itself with learning about the generalized behavior of math operations, regardless of what the values of a math operation. It concerns itself with solving for unknown constants and understanding the behavior of variables. Algebra is extremely important. It is a gateway to all vocations that define our modern existence, and students that are not algebra-literate may find themselves relegated to menial work.

Algebra 2

It is impossible to learn all of the fundamentals of Algebra in one year. After the student masters equation mechanics & the basics of math operations in first-year Algebra, the student goes on to learn about more about graphing, systems of equations, and advanced factoring skills.

Astronomy

Astronomy is one of human civilization's oldest sciences. Humans developed a relationship with the sky very early early in history. The skies provided our ancestors with navigational aide as hunter-gatherers. Humans were able to use the skies as indicators of planting and harvest after inventing agriculture. And today, astronomy continues to provide us with valuable lessons about the universe.

Of all of the subjects that I tutor, Astronomy is the subject in which I am the most passionate. It was my "first love," as I was interested in the subject since the days of my early childhood. Today, I am an active space educator and am a highly active advocate of private and commercial space exploration. In mathematics, the young elementary school student has to learn to count and perform operations on numbers. These are the essential skills that will be necessary to solve most of life's basic problems. This foundation will also be necessary for pursuing higher levels of mathematical knowledge.

My style of tutoring for this age group incorporates imagination and creativity with traditional drills. My goal is to build self-confidence, in addition to a solid mathematics foundation that will help a child pass standardized tests, make good grades, and solve practical problems in life.

If your child needs help, then we will work out a routine that is perfect for the needs of your child. We will turn your child's interests and natural gifts into tools to develop his or her mathematical acumen.
