I am dedicated to the continued artistic growth and development of all learners of all age groups and levels. My educational background and artistic experiences are as follows: I have worked in the visual arts since 1997 with all age groups. I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting with honors (Cum Laude) 2008. Shortly after, I received my Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Savannah College of Arts and Design 2010. I am currently employed as a community educator and visual arts instructor for SCAD. In this position I conduct several workshops in abstract painting and encaustic painting. In addition, I currently serve as an on-site coordinator for the Art Smarts Summer Art program for SCAD, located at The Galloway School of Atlanta, a position I have held for the last two years.
Prior to this position, I was employed as a visual arts instructor for students ages 6-10 years old for SCAD and Atlanta Arts and Cultural Affairs, working with students ages 6-16. For the past year, I have been employed at the Georgia Highlands College located in Douglasville, GA. as an art appreciation professor.
My past tutoring experience involved drawing and painting sessions held in my home for students ages 18-22. These tutoring sessions focus on the basics of drawing and painting with various mediums such as charcoal, chalk, acrylics and oils, to name a few. Also, I consider my visual art workshops as a tutoring session in that it involves hands-on demonstrations and fine tuning the students' skills.
