I am a recognized fine art, black and white photographer and educator. I hold an M.F.A. degree from the University of Utah. I have directed a photography program at a private day school in Atlanta, where I have taught for the past eighteen years. My current work varies from black & white documentary to landscapes from across the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
I am skilled at tutoring traditional film, digital photography, Photoshop editing,Adobe suite, historic photography, learning to utilize your camera for events, portraits, weddings, landscape, travel, and an overall understanding of the technical elements of photography.
This course offers a perfect introduction to the world of digital photography. Whether you are an old pro with a film camera and are looking to progress, or would simply like to jump into the digital world, this class is right for you. We will begin this class by creating digital images using digital cameras and film scanners. The course discusses different processes used in the digital darkroom, such as organizing files, sending images over the internet, making minor adjustments in Adobe Photoshop, and the basics of digital printing. Owning a digital camera is not required for this course. During the workshop, you have access to your own computer workstation. If you are curious about digital photography and have a basic, working knowledge of computers, we encourage you to enroll. Prior Photoshop experience is not required.

This course provides an introduction to color theory with emphasis on its application to the visual arts. Students will learn key terms and the basics of color physics and the physiology of visual perception. We will become familiar with theories of color relationships based on a color sphere incorporating both color and value with primary, secondary, and tertiary colors identified. The course will explore characteristics such as hue, value, and saturation; additive and subtractive color meeting; color interaction; simultaneous contrast; transparency; the relationship between form and color; and the spatial effects of colors. In addition, the distinctions between local and descriptive color versus subjective and expressive color, the psychological effect of colors, and symbolism and cultural associations will be addressed.
I hold an MFA in Photography and graphic design from the University of Utah. I work with many companies that need design layout for advertising and commercial usage. I am very familiar with the Adobe suite collection and can assist those in learning the foundation of this program.

Understanding and using several Macintosh programs, students explore the latest topics and techniques in digital design, including graphics, music, video editing, and advanced web page development. Projects are created using software packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Garageband, iMovie, Quicktime. File management, storage media, and publishing techniques are topics central to this course. Students will assemble an integrated web-based portfolio of their work. The course culminates with each students producing their own DVD project on a topic of their choice.

This course is designed to teach the student how to manipulate acrylic paint, oils, and pastels. The student's projects include color theory, use of value, blending, and different painting styles.In addition the exploration Mixed Media, in combination with traditional painting includes, many different media and materials, including drawing, painting, photo, collage, and found objects. The course allows the young artist to discover art in both two dimensional and three dimensional forms. Work will reflect the used of all the elements and principles of design and will train the student to create balanced original work.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she holds an M.F.A. degree from the University of Utah in the area of Photography and Painting. Ms. W. currently directs a photography program in Atlanta, Georgia, where she has taught for the past seventeen years. Ms. W’s prior work varies from black and white documentary, to landscapes from across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Her current body of work is based on mixed media concepts and the use of Photoshop.
Requirements: Students must furnish their own 35mm SLR cameras or medium format camera, the course can be designed around the digital camera or b/w film,and/or color film. Because one main objective of this course is to understand and utilize the camera, cameras with fixed focus lenses and cameras without a manual mode are not suitable.
This course elaborates on the development of a basic knowledge of the elements of design. Aesthetic awareness is emphasized through the use of photographic expression. In addition, this course will introduce students to understanding computer software to alter the image.
