Georgetown grad tutoring in Writing, History, Lit and related AP tests

I have an extensive background in the subjects of history and English, and I have had experience as an independent English tutor in the Middle East. I've also had the opportunity to study in Washington, D.C., at The George Washington University and Georgetown University, as well as overseas, at the American University of Beirut. I have a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown, and I'm planning on continuing my studies soon.

For the past year, I've been working as a teacher at an after-school tutoring center helping students with their college and SAT/ACT essays, academic papers and AP courses in US and world history, the classics, geography and literature. I also currently work as a freelance writer.

Writing and reading comprehension sometimes get shoved aside in school curricula, but they're vital skills for any student to have. I have the background and knowledge to help you gain a better understanding of these important subjects - and to help you improve your grades.

Writing

The programs I took in high school and college required a great amount of writing, mostly analytical. I was also involved in peer review in college.

Government & Politics

I gained a pretty detailed understanding of the inner workings of government while studying and working in Washington, DC.

World History

I majored in international politics in college, a subject that involved a lot of historical study and analysis. I've taken classes and conducted extensive independent study in the areas of American, European, Middle Eastern and Asian history and international diplomacy. SAT Reading

I received a 770 out of 800 on the SAT verbal section (this was before the SATII writing test was combined with the SAT.)

Religion

I have been quite involved in the study of religion, both as a part of my college coursework and independently. I've taken courses in the classics, which included analysis of Old and New Testament texts, as well as courses in Islamic literature, ancient and medieval Near East history and European history, all of which involved the study of the historical context and the role of religious institutions and religious faith. Classics

While at college, I took a year-long two-part course in the classics, encompassing ancient Greek and ancient Roman literature, as well as a course in ancient Near East history and literature.
