I attended Atlanta Metropolitan College, and Georgia State University as a Political Science (Pre-Law) major. In college, I became involved in the Study Abroad Program which availed me the opportunity to travel and make a multicultural connection with people from diverse cultures. I was blessed to receive the opportunity to travel to Italy, Greece, Asterdam, Rome, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, and the French West Indies. The purpose of my trip was to conduct scholarly research and interview native inhabitants with regards to their lifestyles. This experience motivated me to aquire more knowledge about cultural differences, geography, language barriers, history, and socio-economics. I offer twenty-five years of tutoring with aggressive commitment. I am highly organized, dependable with a positive attitude. My age group is K-2 to seventh grade. My subjects include reading comprehension, public speaking, math, history, writing skills, and global studies. I have worked at the Atlanta Metro Skills Center, and Atlanta Metropolitan College. Based on my unique travel experience, I will encourage my students to learn about global studies. My lesson plan will include visual aids, foreign currency, and collected items to add excitement.
Finally each student will aquire analytical skills, proficiency in written and oral expression, and the ability to solve problems. Several fourth grade students I tutored benefited from my travel experience. For example, historical sites, and oral traditions provided history lessons. The goal of my teaching plan is to improve reading and writing comprehension among K-2 to seventh graders by providing written and visual responses. By the end of the school year students in this grade level will be able to identify, analyze, and appreciate history from different cultures. For example, success will be achieved if students respond with 75% accuracy. A checklist of skills will be given to parents twice a year.
