Tutoring is centered around the student as this approach seems quite effective. G.E.D. and A.S.V.A.B. are my specialties, especially in the subjects of mathematics and grammar. With over ten years of combined teaching and tutoring experience, I am committed to ensuring that my students get the quality, attention, and instruction that they are entitled to.

Each student is different and has different needs. Therefore, it is important that once I find out what the student is lacking or needs improvement in, then I focus on that specific area; this tends to lead to a more efficient and productive utilization of time, as opposed to "covering everything." However, if the student needs general help, then we will "cover" from A to Z.

I teach elementary, middle, and high school level and I am especially interested in helping students prepare for their G.E.D. and A.S.V.A.B. In addition to this, "writing skills" are critical and so is "basic mathematics" - I absolutely love teaching both of them!

Algebra 1

Grammar

Grammar deals with a set of rules and guidelines and it can be improved with much practice.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra, like the rest of the discipline, requires focus and commitment. It also helps to practice whenever possible.

Writing

Writing is a process that can be improved and mastered and I teach it in a manner that encourages student proficiency and confidence.

English

English requires focus, concentration and practice, but once the effort is put forth, the tasks tend to become easier.

ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL requires a lot of focus and practice.

Accounting

Accounting takes focus and concentration to maintain accuracy and follow through with the correct solutions to the problems. We focus on analyzing the problem and providing the correct or appropriate solution required.

Proofreading

It is important to be able to objectively look at a piece of writing and to apply the habit of approaching it without bias. There are certain styles of chess (openings, middle game, and end game) that are quite popular and effective.
