Thinking outside the box is key to science. We are trained to think linearly in most aspects in our life. I introduce methods to students to think outside the box in both learning and application of science. I majored as an undergrad in biology at USF and a MS of Biology at Saint Josephs College. My full time job is working with some of the best scientists in the world at the CDC. As students struggle with difficult concepts, understanding that they can be mastered is key.
Prior to becoming a biologist, I worked for 20 years managing operations at 3 major practice management software companies. Over the course of these years I learned to work with all types of personalities and learning types. I taught both employee and customers how to use various internal and externals products. I was also a single mother or three children who progressed to college so I have experience with elementary and secondary school learning.
During my undergrad classes I mastered courses such as college biology, ecology, microbiololgy, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, and chemistry and organic chemistry as well as the associated labs. More recently I have mastered classes in public health, emerging diseases, virology, immunology, cancer biology, and proteomics. These studies have led to a career at the CDC in biology so I have both the classroom and applied experience. I look forward to helping your child succeed.
