I am a graduate with a Master of Science degree in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology. I studied physical chemistry for two years and have a rich background in science, with a focus on chemistry, physics and math. I also tutor English, writing, reading, SAT, GRE, and other subjects.

I tutor typically by going over problem sets or homework questions and exams, if after the fact. I can lecture when necessary, but I try not to do so because that style of education is best left to the classroom rather than the interactive, individualized nature of a tutoring position. Therefore, I prefer to ask questions to probe how a student may arrive at an answer and why they think it is correct or incorrect. By challenging them to actually think about the material, rather than passively absorbing in lecture style, they are able to improve their ability and performance.

There are multiple learning styles - I hope to accommodate as many of them as possible!

I have had over 80 semester hours of chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, combined with three semesters of teaching and tutoring students. I have worked in both individual and group settings with this material and enjoy explaining the concepts of chemistry in a clear, concise manner. Also, chemistry can and should be fun!

I taught myself how to use the Starting Strength method of strength training and have used it to successfully coach fitness trainees for a few years now. I am confident that my knowledge of the foundations of strength building will help anyone improve strength, flexibility, bone density, and quality of life. I am also a competitive powerlifter, having squatted 420 lbs, bench pressed 245 lbs, and deadlifted 520 lbs.

Additionally, I have six years of running experience at the high school and collegiate level, which has afforded me knowledge in that training area as well.

SAT Reading

I have excellent reading comprehension skills, a great understanding of test taking skills, and of how to maximize a student's score.

Excellent chemistry tutor! Robert helped get our son back on track with his AP Chemistry. He was very patient and our son really liked his teaching style. He left the session with a lot more confidence in the subject material. We will definitely be using him again! Thanks Robert! ...
