I am a Georgia / New York certified teacher with over 6 years experience teaching in public schools located in New York City and Georgia. I have about 10 years' experience tutoring students in subjects such as English Language Arts, American Lit, World Lit, British Lit, Biology, History, Chess, Algebra, Geometry, Nutrition, ESOL, Study Skills, and more. My credentials include a Master’s degree from PACE University in Middle Childhood Students with Disabilities (Special Ed General Curriculum), Georgia State Teaching Certification, and a Bachelor’s degree in History. I have a commitment to academic achievement for young adults, a strong ability to differentiate instruction, and communication and leadership skills.
Being a highly adaptable and versatile educator, I have enjoyed the opportunity to teach a diverse group of children, including those with ADD/ADHD, autism, speech impairments, noncompliant behavior, learning disabilities, physical challenges, and gifted students. These experiences helped me develop into a well-rounded and productive professional, who takes each student’s unique goals, needs, and interest into account, and creates effective lesson plans and activities to accommodate them.
My greatest capability is facilitating all styles of learners. I have experience developing multi-sensory lesson plans to meet the needs of auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. I also incorporate various forms of technology, learning centers, manipulatives, group work, and thematic units to teach new concepts and materials. Furthermore, I have over 12 years experience working with non-profit after school programs where I held various positions such as: tutor, mentor, counselor, chess instructor for gifted students, program coordinator, and assistant director.
I am a goal-oriented educator with a winning approach to academic achievement and I welcome the opportunity to work with you in the near future!
I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
