I have been in the teaching profession for 37 years and have taught kindergarten through college. I have a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Mathematics and a Master's Degree in English Literature with a concentration in Composition. I spent most of my career as a college professor, teaching at such schools as Georgia State, Mercer University, and in the Governor's Honors Summer Program at the College of Charleston. I have also taught at Lithia Springs High School with a PBTA (Performance-based teaching certificate) where I taught the advanced and accelerated classes in literature and composition. As a graduate student,I tutored in the GSU Writing Center and evaluated Regent's Exams. At Mercer University, I taught SAT prep in addition to my English classes. I also spent eight years at a private academy in Atlanta where I was responsible for the Language Arts program for grades K-8. It was in this capacity that I became proficient in teaching phonics/reading. I have been retired for a year and am now returning to part-time teaching as a private tutor.
