The students that work with me always improve their grades and scores, and that improvement almost always exceeds expectations.
My technique is based on a combination of the Socratic Method and a more traditional classroom-style approach. Students I work with first learn the fundamentals of what they need to improve in class and on test day, but they also gain a broader knowledge designed to help them pursue any goal they choose.
Initially, I aim to help students improve their scores and/or grades. Ultimately, my goal is to foster an attitude of self-reliance and curiosity, and to impart the tools necessary to find your own answers. Barron has helped my son overcome his fear with ap physics b. He didn't hesitate to find time to meet with my son and help prepare for a test on short notice. He is clearly a dedicated man who really cares about what he does!
My son loves Barron's patient, easy going style and truly enjoys his math tutoring. Barron is great at teaching technique, strategy and building confidence with a student who struggles with math. Thanks Barron ;)
Barron has been an excellent tutor for our daughter in two subjects. Our daughter absolutely enjoys every tutoring session with Barron.
My son instantly bonded with Barron. My son, who has difficulty concentrating on boring tasks, would work for two hours straight and fully enjoy his sessions.
I sent out an urgent request to help my son do his summer math packet, since he'd procrastinated all summer. Barron responded quickly and provided almost daily guidance for several weeks to complete the work. It was truly a summer's worth of problems completed in 2 1/2 weeks. Thanks to Barron's flexibility and guidance, my son was able to start the school year off ready to learn.
Started out very reliable but was unable to make very critical sessions when it was coming closer to the test.
Barron is a excellent tutor and comes well prepared. His patience is excellent! Also, he is very accessible and with patience keeps me asking questions which I am not afraid to ask.
You will help your child immensely by hiring Barron to do test prep tutoring!!I'm so happy to have discovered Barron.
I needed someone with the ability to throw a hail Mary pass during the last 10 seconds of the game. My daughter was in summer school and it looked like she wasn't going to pass Geometry with only three days before the final exam. I reached out to our regular tutor and as I expected... she wasn't working during the summer. In sheer despair, I went to wyzant.com and sent what now seems like an SOS MOM IN DISTRESS message. I honestly wasn't expecting a response; but, literally within 30 minutes Barron had responded to my distress message and an hour later, we had arranged for him to tutor my daughter for an hour or an hour and a half. Fast forward to the next day; and, what I thought would be an hour session lasted for THREE HOURS! I felt so bad that I had totally underestimated the amount of time she needed but Barron's focus the entire time was making sure that my daughter was confident in the subject matter AND that she was working through the problems correctly! We are still awaiting her final exam score; but, I am very confident that she passed the course... which would have never been possible without Barron.
We appreciate Barron's sincere and professional manner. The girls were motivated by his intelligence and excellent communication skills. He also kept both of them busy and on task the entire session.
He made my son feel very comfortable and Barron working with my son at his pace. After one visit my son was very excited because we found somebody that is will to take the time to help him understand!
I would recommend Barron to others.
Barron exceeded our expectations. My son was very encouraged by his experience with Barron and felt that Barron was able to help him understand his math assignment.
Barron was a terrific tutor who helped our son raise his SSAT scores considerably. We had not chosen to tutor for the SSAT originally, as our son had always done well in scholastic testing, scoring 99th percentile every time. This was a huge mistake! I recommend to everyone that you tutor before taking the SSAT test. Due to timing issues, we had to move quickly to get the tutoring done before the next testing session. Barron was extremely flexible and agreed to meet with our son 4 days a week for the next two weeks to prepare. He was always on time, connected well with our son and was able to affect the change we needed to see in his scores. We were thrilled to see the huge change this made. We will absolutely use Barron again if we need any tutoring and highly recommend him.
Thank you so much, Barron!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I majored in Biology in college, and due to my own interest in Genetics, I focused much of my upper level coursework in that field, taking advantage of the University's fantastic genetics dept.
An example of such focus would be the small group discussion/presentation Genetics forums, led, in my case, by the evolutionary aging researcher Dr. Daniel Promislow.
I took the MCAT after completing the pre-med program in the honors program at the University of Georgia. I scored a 35 overall and made an "S" on the writing portion.
The breakdown of my score was:
12- Life Science Section (Organic Chemistry and Biology)
12- Physical Science Section (Chemistry and Physics)
