I am an avid learner, and also enjoy teaching others. As an honors student at Georgia State University, and having learned 3 new languages (more like 2 and a half but 3 sounds better!), I have realized the importance and seen the results of studying effectively and working hard. I enjoy making a difference in a student’s grade and changing their attitude about a subject (although their impression of their teacher may not improve), I have been tutoring for over two years, and started coaching soccer about one year ago. I find it very satisfying and it’s the best job I ever had!!
I have specialized in tutoring math. I am two courses away from graduating with a double major in Economics and Business, and anything related to mathematics has always been my more natural subject. I enjoy teaching this because I find that many people struggle with it. I focus on finding the students’ best learning style (visual, auditory, reading-writing, etc.) and try to teach in the best way the student will learn. Students may feel overwhelmed or lose confidence when they struggle with material they are actually very capable of learning. I simplify the lessons, do very well explaining confusing subjects, and provide my own tips and advice for students. I am very practical: I may tell them to focus on really learning things they will need for the rest of their lives, but I am not shy to suggest some memorization of things that I find irrelevant.
Foreign Language is another one of my strongest subjects, my mother tongue is actually Spanish although my English is just as good. I learned Italian studying abroad in Venice for a year, and can have advanced conversations. However my level is for beginners or intermediate students and I do make mistakes. French is my poorest language; I have completed the requirements for my minor in it, and have also studied abroad in Paris for one semester. What I may lack in complete knowledge of grammar in Italian and French, I make up for in knowledge of learning a language! I have been there, lost, confused and frustrated many times. I know what works and what will slip from your brain 30 minutes after learning it.
Please do not hesitate to contact me! If you are looking for a stable tutor for the semester, by request I will provide the FIRST LESSON FREE of charge, and I will let the student contact me back if he/she is satisfied!
Thank you and have a good day!
