I have multiple subjects of expertise in science and math. Currently, I am working in specialty chemicals as a territory manager in the Atlanta area. I'm a past high school science teacher at Samuell High School in Dallas ISD and have a masters degree in Molecular Biology from UT Arlington which I achieved in December 2013.

From 2011-2012, I worked as a synthetic chemist for UT Southwestern specializing in organic chemistry. I graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2010 with a BS in Health Biology.

I have experience tutoring high school math and different science courses in college undergraduate curriculum including Cellular Biology and General Chemistry. I could be a great help for anybody having trouble with high school chemistry, biology, or math. I'm a big believer in repetition and seeing subjects in more than one way for complete understanding. Science and math may not be easy, but they can absolutely be mastered.

Algebra 1

Algebra is the foundation for most types of math. Along with using it in every day situations, I use it to figure out a number of different scientific problems and can readily explain it from beginning to advanced applications.

Algebra 2

Algebra II allows students to become more and more comfortable with manipulating equations in a variety of ways. I have experience working with high school students in Algebra II and promote repetition to fully grasp the different methods of solving a problem.

My undergraduate degree and my graduate degree which I'm currently pursuing are both in biology. While my focus has been on cellular and molecular mechanisms, I have experience with all sorts of biological topics. The underlying themes of life (biology) all focus on the same foundation. I can explain biology in a wide variety of ways and have direct experience teaching cell biology to undergraduate college students.

Chemistry is always seen as the difficult subject, but it doesn't have to be. It is governed by a few concrete laws which apply to all forms of chemistry. My education and work experience have been very much focused on chemistry, so I can explain it in a number of ways. I have experience teaching general chemistry to high school students and undergraduate college students.

Elementary Math

I've worked with fourth grade students in elementary math and have lots of experience introducing fractions. I really enjoy working with students in this age group and am able to introduce problems in a variety of ways for different learning abilities.

I have taken general and molecular genetics as an undergraduate and am currently taking advanced genetics as a graduate student. I've completed projects involving genome assembly and have done research looking into the genetics of different human blood polymorphisms. Genetics is a very complex subject especially when looked into at the molecular level. I am able to break these complex topics down to a level of understanding in multiple ways for many learning abilities.

I'm a very big believer in breaking subjects down to fundamentals for overall understanding. Geometry to me is just that: breaking down figures and equations to promote more understanding about a problem.

Martial Arts

I am a sensei in Soryu Karate achieving my black belt in March 2005 in New Braunfels, TX after 11 years of being active in the sport. I taught the kid's and adult karate classes when I had instructor rank (brown belt through black belt). I am no longer actively involved in a dojo as I moved when I began college. However, I still train in my free time and still have a great love for martial arts.

Organic Chemistry

I have taken Organic Chemistry I and II as an undergraduate student. I then worked as a synthetic chemist in an organic chemistry lab for a year making compounds for cancer research. Besides working at the bench, this job required me to look into publications and find proposed mechanisms to make the compounds my PI wanted according to the research proposal.

Pre-Algebra is a big step for math students. It's when they are first introduced to negative numbers, variables, and completely different methods for solving equations by balancing them rather than straight forward arithmetic. I am able to present these methods in many different ways for all types of learning abilities. A strong foundation in pre-algebra is very important to succeed in all successive math courses.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is a skill learned by the same method as all other subjects: practice. Through my career, I've given various scientific presentations involving research, publications, and review articles on various subjects. Currently, as a teacher, I am required to give lectures daily and to control the attention of an audience.

I am a science teacher at Samuell High School and have been involved in multiple sessions preparing students for science and math STAAR tests.

I am currently a science teacher at Samuell High School and have been helping multiple students prepare for the science and math portion of the TAKS test.

Track & Field

I was in varsity track and cross country in high school, and was the team captain for my senior year. I ran cross country for my freshman year in college and have since then completed 5 marathons plus other various races. Running is my thing!
