Hello, my name is Kimberly and I've been tutoring English, Language Arts, and writing research and term papers for about 13 years. I graduated from Mercer University in 2001 with my B.A. in English and Criminal Justice. I taught school for 3 years and organized tutoring programs for about 5 years. I worked as a volunteer community service lead teacher with the Hands On Atlanta program for two years and then taught English and Language Arts at an Alternative School for female students grades 7-12. I am able to tutor k-6 in math and science as well. I have successfully run 2 tutoring programs and have trained tutors in all subject areas, even to include lesson planning and assessment. I am great with creating learning plans and have been successful at getting my students at or above reading level. I am also proficient in phonics and have taught under the reading and phonics modules READS which was developed by the Georgia State University and the Success For All (SFA) module. For Phonics, I use Flip Charts, Flashcards, Magnetic Letter Tiles and Color Tiles, Interactive white board, timers, and assessments that involves a Pre-Reading Skills Survey, Grouping Matrix, and Diagnostic Decoding Surveys which aides in teaching spelling and correct usage of the English language. It would be my pleasure to work with you.
I played basketball in college on a scholarship in the shooting guard position. I won best defensive player 2 years in a row and most 3 pointers in a game for the NAIA conference. I also coached recreational basketball for 3 years. I can teach shooting and defensive techniques as well as ball handling skills.
I have been trained by Project GRAD to tutor in K-6 elementary math utilizing their Move It Math program which improves grades and increases test scores, accelerates learning by as much as 2 years by grade 4. The Move It Math Program's logic is to seek lasting success based on understanding and present Math as events in the form of hands-on activities that children can and like to do: play games, make things, and think. The MIM program accounts for different learning styles—the predominately auditory, visual, or tactile/kinesthetic child
I was trained under the Hands On Atlanta Program and Georgia State University's READS Program as well as Project GRAD'S Success For All program. The SFA program is designed to take students back to the alphabet to learn and accurately use sounds and pictures to recognize how a word should be repeated. These programs I have been trained in taught memorization and language coding. I have been using these same modules since 2001 and am a proficient user of all three. These programs were also merged with K-6 programs in academics to get students on, at, and above reading level including Math.

Study skills can be taught even if you're not a professional in the subject. With Study Skills I teach organization and memorization key tactics that enable students to remember specific elements related to the subject. From flashcards to perfecting note taking, I can help any student get from point A to Z.
