ESL/ESOL

I began teaching English to speakers of other languages during the many years that I traveled, studied, and worked overseas in China, France, Germany, Hawaii, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, the Philippine and Caribbean Islands. What started as a great way to make friends while learning each other's language has evolved, with formal education, dedication, and experience, into my sole vocation.

I teach individual ESL clients, the American accent English communication skills required by the world's leading corporations and universities. I am currently tutoring several international clients from Brazil, China, Japan, Italy, Korea, the Philippines, and Spain, either in person or online.

My most advanced American accent English clients have collaborated with me, continuously, for two or more years. Several are earning graduate degrees from Atlanta's finest institutions. We meet every week to refine and practice the written and oral English presentations required of them. Other clients are ESL working professionals using my services to refine their business emails, presentations, and telephone English communications. During lessons, I frequently introduce practical English exercises that can be used effectively between lessons, when time permits.

My advanced TESOL instructor credentials were awarded by Kennesaw State University. I actively network with influential TESOL certified teachers from around the world to constantly update my ESL teaching skills and materials. Thank you for considering my tutoring services. (Updated: July 2014)

Handwriting

I am a college educated teacher of everything having to do with English, including all of the finer points of handwriting. My elementary school education included detailed lessons in cursive and block print handwriting in both upper and lower case fonts. Speed handwriting is still the most efficient way to take notes during business meetings of every description in today's global economy. Additionally, there is no substitute for the handwritten anniversary or birthday card. For those reasons and more, I take pride in the handwriting I teach to enthusiastic learners.

IELTS

I collaborate with non-native English language learners prior to their taking the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) standardized test. We practice using the best standardized test-taking strategies while working through IELTS sample tests. I provide the familiarization and testing practice required for successful outcomes. I emphasize studying the IELTS format, scoring, and question types, repeatedly, until testing insecurity is replaced with confidence and, ultimately, high scores.

Public Speaking

Many of the ESL graduate school students and working professionals that I assist are expected to engage in American accent English discussions, offer verbal explanations, introduce visiting clients, and narrate PowerPoint presentations. I provide the American accent English pronunciation and elocution skills that speakers of other languages want when creating and delivering oral presentations. I frequently collaborate with my students to draft, proofread, and practice their presentations. I am asked to articulate Standard American accent English examples during practice. I provide the constructive evaluations needed for a confident English presentation. Thank you for your interest in my English tutoring services.

SAT Reading

I offer 2-hour personalized SAT Reading test preparation lessons to students determined to achieve their best scores. To accomplish this, I show each student precisely how to add extra points and minimize penalties within the Reading test time frame.

I infuse my innate teaching enthusiasm into each SAT knowledge-based lesson. In addition to the Official SAT Study Guide, I consult two other highly-regarded Reading test preparation strategy guides. I devote extra attention to the SAT passage-based reading comprehension questions that confuse many students.

I tutor SAT Reading and Writing test preparation with equal proficiency. These tests require many of the same skills I needed to achieve high SAT scores, qualify for scholarships, and earn my professional credentials in Communications and Medicine.

SAT Writing

I provide 2-hour personalized SAT Writing test preparation lessons to students focused on achieving excellent scores. To that end, I show each student exactly how to gain extra points and avoid penalties within the Writing test time frame.

I bring my teaching enthusiasm to each SAT knowledge-based lesson. In addition to the Official SAT Study Guide, I reference three other highly-regarded Writing test preparation strategy guides. I devote extra attention to the SAT essay writing requirement that intimidates many students.

I tutor SAT Writing and Reading test preparation with equal proficiency. These tests require the same testing skills I needed to achieve high SAT scores, qualify for scholarships, and earn my professional credentials in the Medical and Communications fields. Thank you for considering my SAT Writing test preparation qualifications.

Speech

I routinely provide the speech evaluations and respectful suggestions that working professionals and graduate school students need when preparing their verbal presentations. I assist my clients to clearly articulate the eloquent American accent English intonation that they desire to advance their careers.

I collaborate with clients to optimize their verbal presentations through the deliberate use of speech articulation, stress, pacing, and emphasis. My goal is to guide my ESL scholars toward increasingly clear, fluid, and coherent discourse.

I often assist my clients with their pronunciation, vocabulary, and accent challenges. Toward that end, I routinely model the Standard non-regional American accent English generally associated with well-educated North Americans. I carefully enunciate my words using the slow careful speech and accurate American accent English syllable stress that does not require undue listener effort.

I regularly resource my Kennasaw University TESOL certification, professional tutoring experience, and scholarly English language reference book collection. My ESL students report increased confidence in their verbal presentations, successful job interview outcomes, and high coursework marks. My clients also praise my efforts in positive tutor reviews and with high lesson ratings. They credit me with the huge improvements and compliments they experience in regards to their American accent English language skills. Thank you for considering my qualifications.

TOEFL

As a full-time TESOL certified ESL instructor, I am ideally suited to tutor the TOEFL iBT examination. International students frequently ask for my assistance to become familiar with the appearance, length, and format of the TOEFL iBT. Together we prepare for each of the four TOEFL iBT Sections tested, with special emphasis on the difficult Speaking Section.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
