I am a graduate of Rutgers who majored in Physics
.I am currently a student at Emory Law
School and specializing in intellectual property law.
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience. I have also been a teacher at the Center For Talented Youth, through John Hopkins University, teaching rising 8th graders and high school students mathematical modeling.
I have tutored at the college-level at the Rutgers Learning Resource Center and have privately tutored students from elementary school to high school. At the Rutgers Learning Resource Center I tutored small groups in problem solving, theoretical content and scientific methods for undergraduate science
classes. I have tutored from Algebra
-III at Rutgers in addition to chemistry
I have also had a great deal of scientific experience and have worked around the world on different physics projects. I have been to Germany, Poland, Canada and still do research locally at Rutgers. I have actively been involved with RUPA-The Rutgers University Programming
Association throughout my college career and have served as VP of Finance
on RUPA. (RUPA puts on events like RutgersFest as well as other events for the Rutgers community through the year).
As I am a tutor and a researcher, I try to implement elements of my research while tutoring. I feel students should try to approach new concepts by drawing
on what they already know and thus extend their understanding. In the sciences, simply memorizing is not enough to learn how to apply a concept to a new problem. In mathematics, I feel the proper motivation and background is required when mathematics is being learned; otherwise it is quite frustrating to learn what can be a very abstract subject. I also feel that a tutor isn't simply there to teach information to a student but rather to draw on a students strengths and help them develop study skills
and approaches to learn any new material they may encounter in their lives.
