I have just retired from 30+ years of teaching Spanish. I have taught in private and public school and all ages from elementary through college level. I taught AP Spanish for 8 years and served as an AP Reader (grader) for 5 years. I have a B.A. in Spanish from Tulane University, an M.A. in Spanish from Emory University, and a Ph.D. in Communicative Arts Education from Georgia State University. I also have a certificate in translation from English to Spanish and Spanish to English from Georgia State. I have taken training in medical interpretation and am currently studying for the certification test for court interpreting. During all my teaching years, I have developed many effective methods for explaining and practicing Spanish vocabulary and structures.

ESL/ESOL

I am a native English speaker who has studied linguistics, applied linguistics, and second language acquisition. I have an excellent knowledge of English grammar. While most of my teaching career has been teaching Spanish as a second language, not English, I do understand the concepts of teaching a second language well. I have taught ESL at the college level, as a volunteer to adults, and in an English language school.
