I have been tutoring both high school and college students for 25 years. As a graduate student at UGA, I taught symbolic logic four times. For the last three years I have been tutoring student athletes at UGA and upper and middle school students at Athens Academy. Math tutoring is my vocation.

I approach mathematics more as an art than a science. Math as an art means that it is a skill perfected by practice--an "activity"--not a spectator sport. An analogy may help clarify this point: Learning mathematics is more like learning how to play tennis than it is like learning the facts of U.S. history. This approach affects my tutoring in that I try to find ways to improve the student's skills in solving problems both correctly and as efficiently as possible.
