I attended Indiana University for my undergraduate work, graduating from there in 1985. I majored in business
, namely management and organizations. I also minored in history
. Between high school and college, I studied American history
, World history
, American military history, some European history
Revolution and Napoleonic periods), as well as Ancient history (the periods of both Alexander The Great and Ancient Rome). I've read a lot over the years as history is a passion of mine, specifically our Civil War and the World War
II periods. My travels through the years tend to center around historical venues, both here in the US and abroad. I like to make history fun as well.
I then started my business career soon after graduation from IU. While working in 1987, I enrolled at DePaul University in Chicago to pursue my MBA, majoring in Entrepreneurship. I completed my degree in 1992.
For the most part, my tutorial approach focuses on the areas students are having difficulty with. I will ask to review any past tests, assignments, and papers in order to see what the student is grasping (or not) and get an idea what the teacher is looking for. I will recommend outside reading
to augment what is covered in textbooks. After all, textbooks can only cover so much. My wife has an elementary education
background, having a Masters degree. She will serve as my reference point as needed.
I believe knowing the history of mankind and its various civilizations enables all of us to better understand who we are by learning where we came from.
