I have a B.A. degree in Political Science from Denison University in Ohio and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. I have taught grades 4-8, including special education children, and have over 20 years of tutoring experience with elementary through high school students. My favorite subjects are pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and SAT Math.
I am passionate about conveying my love and knowledge of math to my students. I truly believe that anybody can become successful in math. I am very patient, upbeat, and encouraging with my students.
In addition to reviewing homework assignments, I teach key concepts, study skills, and test taking strategies that a student is able to use going forward. I regularly contact my student's teachers to get their input on skill gaps and areas in need of improvement. I also like to get feedback from the teacher as to what concepts she will be teaching next so I can introduce these concepts and the student can be "one step ahead" of the class. Realizing that not all students learn the same way, I have a variety of approaches and sources at my disposal.
I look forward to working with your child.
