I am an experienced ESL instructor/private tutor and would love to help you with your study of English. I have over 5 years of experience teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students. Teaching ESL has been one of the most rewarding teaching experiences of my life. My ESL classroom students consistently ask me to move up to the next level with them, and my private students recommend me to their friends. In addition to ESL, I also have many years of experience as: an Information Technology instructor to adults, a substitute teacher in local elementary schools, and a religious education teacher for students of all ages (children through adults). English was a second language for my grandparents and because of that, I have a strong appreciation for the student's perspective in learning English as a second language.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I have several years of experience teaching English, both as a private tutor and as a classroom instructor in several community-based ESL programs. This experience includes teaching students at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels in ESL. My private students recommend me to their friends and my classroom students typically ask me to move up to the next level with them.

I like to customize the lesson for each student's needs and goals. These lessons typically include: conversation, vocabulary/idioms, pronunciation, grammar, writing, and American culture. Prior to becoming an ESL teacher, I had teaching experience in both the corporate world and as a substitute teacher in the public school system. I received my instructor training at AT&T and in the English for Successful Living Program.
