I was a teacher even before I became one! My classmates in high school were teasing me, that I could replace any of our teachers. Well, that wasn't really true, but my love to help them and to explain whenever I 'got it first' stood probably out among them. I finished high school with almost a perfect score, as a Valedictorian in 1984.
Then I attended the University of Bucharest, Romania and graduated in 1988 with a BA in Foreign Languages and Literature (double major, German and English, with a minor in Pedagogy). My credentials have been evaluated by the World Education Services, Inc and my Licentiate Diploma has the U.S. Equivalency of a Bachelor's degree.
I love teaching. And I want my students to fall in love with learning a foreign language. Many of my students back home in Romania became so confident in English and German that they ended up studying abroad in many different fields like Computer Science, Physics, International Relations, etc.
German is an easy language to learn for English- speaking people, as they both come from the same 'mother language'.
It is never to early to start learning a language. And it is never to late, either.
With children I sing a lot, play, act; with the older one I use appropriate techniques - more reading, talking, writing. With family and friends in Germany, that I visit often, I know a lot about the country and its traditions.
I learned English as a foreign language so it is a lot easier for me to understand the difficulties that a non-English speaker might encounter. Beside the language I also help him/her fit into society.
I am very flexible with scheduling the lessons, but a 24 hours notice in case of cancellation would be very nice to get.
Starting with January of 2014 I will teach German at the Kennesaw State University. Looking forward to a new experience.
