I am interested in helping students (elementary, middle/high school, college-level adult) in the areas of study skills and preparation for tests (literature, grammar, vocabulary, writing, proofreading), or business, and career development. I also teach visual art expression. Each individual has their own unique learning style, whether it be auditory, visual, tactile, kinesthetic, global, or analytic. To help a student reach his/her goals, it is important to develop critical study skills including 1)organization/time management; 2)note-taking; 3)memory skills; 4)test-taking; 5)reading in content areas; 6)vocabulary development; 7)listening and 8) achieving metacognition.
I have had many years of working with young children and teenagers and successfully raised my own daughter, a college grad. I have experience in teaching Montessori to pre-school children, outreach health educator to high schools and colleges, working with high school and college-level volunteers and teaching life-skills and therapeutic art expression to at-risk teenagers and adults at a non-profit (for nearly six years) and also teaching Special Education 7th Grade Math and 8th Grade Language Arts in an at-risk public school with a 98% Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) passing rate. I previously held a temporary educator certification in Art (K-12 / 2005-2008).
My early college years focused on a major in Fine Arts - Painting. Later in my career, I received a B.S. in Human Services and an M.S. in Human Services - Organizational Management and Leadership. I have also completed one year of doctorate coursework (towards an Ed.D) in Organizational Management and Leadership. I am currently a Marketing Contractor and have my own web-based business.
