I have been tutoring for over 17 years and have seen dozens of students respond to individualized explanation. I specialize in high school and college level subjects ranging from Elementary Math to Algebra to standardized test preparation. My undergraduate degree is in Information Technology Management with a minor in Mathematics. I have recently completely a Master's degree in Economics and am in the final year of my PhD program in Business Economics. I have taken my old struggles in a variety of subjects and used them to not only figure out how a student is thinking about a particular concept, but to explain the correct thinking process effectively. Helping a student must involve understanding, not just being able to get an answer. When it comes to a skill, I like to start as basic as possible, then move on to more complex examples, and finally teach how to recognize and apply the skill in context. I believe this last step is important and often hurried/glossed-over in textbooks and courses, yet stressed in tests. It needs to be broken down as much as possible. I am dedicated to being individualized and believe that my greatest asset as a tutor is an ability to adapt to different thinking styles and situations, often on the spur of the moment. All of my students have learned to trust that I will come up with a way that he/she can understand the subject material.

Differential Equations

I have successfully completed this course along with associated courses through graduate level Calculus and Linear Algebra. I feel well qualified at this point in my PhD career to tutor for this subject.

Econometrics

I am a 4th year PhD student in economics and have taken 3 years of progressive econometrics courses at the graduate level as well as an elective course in the study of Bayesian econometrics. I am presently working on my dissertation and employing many of the econometric techniques that I have acquired over the past 4 years, so the material is very familiar to me not only from a theoretical viewpoint, but also in practical research application.

Linear Algebra

I successfully completed an undergraduate course in Linear Algebra and use applied linear algebra methods at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in economics. Topics that I am familiar with in the field include: vector theory (vector spaces, linear transformation, eigenvectors and eigenvalues) and matrix related theory (Gaussian elimination, matrix properties of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and solving multiple parameter equations).
