I have experience in a variety of fields of tutoring. When I first started college, I began tutoring strictly in math to help pay for my tuition. Math seems to be one of those subjects that you either love or hate, and most people seem to hate it. While I was taking my math classes in college, I started helping some of my classmates who were struggling. That turned into me helping a lot more people and beginning to get paid for it. I've tutored a number of elementary students in math and science, and I've helped middle school and high school students in English and math. At a college level, I've only really tutored in math.

I've been tutoring on my own for years, and really enjoy it. I think it's good to share any tips and advice you might have in a subject where someone else may not do as well. I even considered becoming a teacher for awhile since I enjoyed the experience so much. After taking a break from college, I'm now back in school, and working on my PharmD.

Vocabulary

I've helped a number of students with vocabulary tutoring. Some students have difficulty with focusing when it comes to memorization, so having someone else there to help can make it a little easier. Usually, the students prefer doing flashcards and study tools like that, but I'm open to whatever works best for each student.

Prealgebra

I've been tutoring for many years in Pre-Algebra. I've tutored high school and college students in this area. Most students dread Pre-Algebra and Algebra, and they tend to struggle as a result. Usually when we meet, most students prefer to do the practice tests with me, and then we would focus on the areas they didn't do as well on. Spelling

Spelling was always one of my better subjects. I competed in spelling bees when I was in school, and won a few of them. When tutoring, I typically meet with each student and study through quizzes. I'll write out words (some misspelled) and have them choose the ones that are spelled correctly. Also, I'll tell them a word and have them spell it. Most students prefer this method, but I will adjust the method based on the student's needs and preference.

ACT Reading

Elementary (K-6th)

I've tutored a number of students in this area. I can help with anything from cursive letters, elementary math, and language, to grammar and spelling. Elementary science is also a subject I've tutored in. Most of the students that I've tutored, needed help with their homework. We would usually go over the worksheets they had for homework, and I would bring some others as well if they needed additional work.
