My passion for Math began in high school, when my intellect and imagination were ignited by the delight and wonderment of my first exposure to Calculus.
I went on to study Math and Physics as an undergraduate at Vassar College, Indian River Community College, and New College of Florida while working as a tutor and teaching assistant in a variety of courses (Intermediate & College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, Physics 1-2).
After receiving a BA in Mathematics from New College, I entered graduate school at Michigan State University. I gained experience as an instructor in my own Calculus class and spent time with students in the undergraduate help center, while earning my MS in Mathematics.
After returning back to Sebastian, my hometown, I tutored high school students in Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus at Make Your Mark In Life in Vero Beach. I now teach Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Statistics at Indian River State College as an adjunct faculty member.
Through my journey of learning and sharing Mathematics, I have found that Mathematical understanding and proficiency is within reach for far more people than is commonly believed. Through the patience and compassionate guidance of a teacher who has walked ahead on the path of learning Mathematics, students can overcome barriers and find their own understanding. In this way, students can master and integrate skills and concepts in the same way they learn any other subject.
Since I believe that, ultimately, the student is their own best teacher, my approach to tutoring is highly individual. By getting to know you, your aspirations, and your apprehensions I hope to serve you in the only way I know how. Let's learn together.
