Hi, my name is Jessica.I have my undergrad degree in general education and my masters in special education. I am currently a first grade special education teacher. I always knew I wanted to become a teacher since I was younger. in my opinion, a teacher is someone who gives instruction and communicates skills. Teaching makes a difference in children because it gives them tools to help them be successful in the future. Teachers get involved in the lives of their students. They make their students feel good about themselves and they help the youth realize and fulfill their dreams.
I have worked with children for the past nine years. I have also worked with students with disabilities for about six years. When I was in high school I babysat for 2 young children, and when I was in college, I worked at a daycare. I also used to tutor two young girls with their school work. They were in first and third grade. I love teaching my students and watching them grow over the months. It's such a rewarding feeling to help children succeed in school.
From experience, I think many children learn best from visual pictures, and hands on activities. However, every child learns differently. It is helpful for students to see pictures of what they are learning about. It helps them better memorize the material. I enjoy teaching and tutoring children to better help them succeed in school. When I was in middle and high school, I had a tutor myself. I felt I would get stressed easily with all of the amount of homework and tests. Now, I enjoy tutoring children from grades kindergarten to sixth grade. I know what it feels like to have trouble in school, and I learned so much over the years about tests taking strategies. Tutoring children, and teaching is a hobby and interest of mine. I think it is an exciting, yet challenging job. I hope I hear from you soon!
Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and mostly affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills. Some symptoms are, difficulty in pretend play, and social interaction, develops language slowly or not at all, and has trouble making eye contact.
I am a first grade special education teacher. I have been working with autistic children for about 5 years now. The school I work at is mostly for autistic children, as well as children with speech impairments. It is such an honor and rewarding feeling to work with autistic children. I want to continue to learn, and expand my knowledge on students with disabilities. I am in the middle of getting my masters, and have been taking classes to learn even more about autism, as well as different therapies, such as ABA therapy.
I am currently a certified teacher for grades 1-6. I have graduated with my bachelors and my masters program. I took many classes throughout my journey on how to teach elementary students. I have been teaching first grade for 2 years and I feel very confident.
I have been working with students with special needs for about 6 years. I have a lot of experience with students with disabilities and students with autism. Working with special needs students can very difficult and requires a lot of patience. It is very important to be consistent with special needs students.
I also found that using visual, auditory, and tactile cues is very important to use in the classroom. Using colored pictures, or the computer can help them grasp the lesson better. Tactile cues such as gently touching a person’s shoulder, offering a blanket or other soft fabric, or providing silly putty are easy ways to mark a transition that can get the students attention. Also, when they are learning the letters of the alphabet they can practice writing the letters in sand or in shaving cream. This will help them to grasp the information in a clearer and easier way.
