I attended the prestigious New College of Florida in Sarasota, FL. It is the "Honors College" for the state of Florida and one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation. My concentration of study was Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

I earned my BA in History, an MA in modern European/World History, and have 24 graduate hours in Religious Studies, as well as holding a professional certificate in Financial Planning.

American History

Topics include but are not limited to U.S. History in high school, AP American history for college-credit and U.S. History I&II for college level students.

Vocabulary

I cannot stress enough the importance of a good working vocabulary. Research indicates that a broad vocabulary is one of the most important factors in earning promotion and securing good employment. In high school, most curriculums include a "vocabulary workbook. It is essential that you gain an understanding of vocabulary, synonyms, and antonyms.

European History

AP European history for college-level credit, Western Civilization I&II for college students or general European history sequences.

Writing

Writing is an often overlooked form of communication, but in school, the workplace, and in everyday life, we use writing on a daily basis. As a published historian, I can help you become a better writer and help you express yourself more clearly and succinctly. But, as with most things, writing takes time and a great deal of patience. It can be challenging but the reward is great!

Proofreading

I can proofread a variety of papers for grammar, mechanics, basic style (unless you want more constructive feedback) and spelling. This is particularly important for junior and senior research papers, which are required portions of English III & IV in high school.
I can also proofread a variety of papers for college-level students.

ACT English

ACT preparation is important, especially in achieving the best possible score. It can often make the difference in getting into your college of choice. We can focus on problem areas or take a more general, holistic approach, and touch on every key area.

Elementary (K-6th)

I continue to work part-time at a Charter School that is 6-8 grades. I've also worked one on one with students with learning disabilities. Like tutoring, working closely with one or two students gives them the desired attention they lack in more formal classroom settings. Thus, students are able to address specific areas and build confidence in the process.

Religion

I hold 24 graduate hours in Religious Studies and can teach a variety of topics, spanning from ancient Christianity to modern religious debates. Much of my coursework centered on the 16th Century Reformation and Historical Christianity.

College Counseling

As an external course reviewer for auditing and regional accreditation reviews and college professor at several universities around the country, I am uniquely placed to help students entering college to make the transition seamlessly.

Art History

At New College of Florida, my area of concentration was "Medieval and Renaissance Studies." Part of that program involved art history of which I've taken enough for a minor field. My specialty area is Art History from the Renaissance period through early 20th century. My secondary area is Renaissance art.

Social Studies

My teacher certification was in Social Studies 6-12 and my undergraduate degrees is in history and my graduate degree is in European history.

Classics

At New College of Florida, in Sarasota, FL, my concentration was "Medieval and Renaissance Studies" but my mentor was a Classics professor, so I took equally as much in Classics, including Late Antiquity, Greek Literature, and Latin. In addition, I've taken graduate courses in Ancient military history.
