Algebra 2
I can tutor students in advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and trigonometric functions.
C++
As a Computer Science major, I can tutor on structured program design and the basics of computer programming in the C++ language including: Boolean expressions, iteration, standard library functions, programmer-defined functions, arrays, searching and sorting, multidimensional arrays, pointers and dynamic memory allocation, programmer-defined classes, and abstract data types.
I can also address more advanced topics such as top-down design and object oriented design with inheritance, abstract base classes, virtual functions, and polymorphism. Operator overloading, templates, linked data structures and exception handling are other advanced topics in which I can bolster students understanding and proficiency.
I can also tutor students in higher level algorithms and data structures of C++ including the run-time behavior of programs; the design and structure of programs; linear data structures; recursion; binary search trees; Heapsort.
Calculus
I can tutor on the topics of calculus one, such as limits and continuity, differentiation, curve sketching, definite and indefinite integration, and applications of those topics.
I can also tutor on the topics of calculus two, such as exponential, logarithmic and inverse trigonometric functions, techniques of integration, parametric equations, sequences, infinite series, and Taylor series.
I can also tutor on the topics of calculus three, such as polar coordinates, vectors and the geometry of three-dimensional space, rector functions, partial derivatives, multiple integrals and vector calculus.
General Computer
I can tutor students in computer basics, such as starting up the computer, changing users, and shutting down. I can explain aspects of desktop usage, such as working with the start menu, creating shortcuts, using the task bar, and managing multiple windows. I can explain how to work with files and folders and windows explorer. If students need help personalizing Windows, I can teach them how to do things such as modifying the color scheme, personalizing the desktop, customizing the start up folder, and adding user accounts. I can help students deal with printers and troubleshooting printers. I can tutor students on applications, surfing the web, downloading files, burning files to a CD/DVD, installing software, etc.
Geometry
I can assist students in the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions including transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Furthermore, I can tutor and help students with the real world applications and problem solving situations which utilize inductive and deductive reasoning such as proofs and word problems.
Microsoft Windows
I'm a Computer Science major in my junior year. I can tutor students in Windows basics, such as getting the computer started, switching accounts, and shutting down. I can teach different parts of desktop use, such as using the Start Menu, making shortcut icons, working with the Taskbar, and dealing with several windows at once. I can teach how to work with folders, different types of files and windows explorer. If students need help changing the personal aspects of windows, I can teach them how to do things such as change the colors of windows etc., change the desktop icons and background, customize the startup folder, and add different users. I can help students with printers and help deal with printer problems. I can teach students about apps like Microsoft Office, I can help students understand browsing the web and downloading files, I can help students burn files to a CD/DVD or move them to a storage device, and I can teach students how to correctly install software.
Microsoft Word
I can tutor students on creating, navigating and saving documents, applying character and paragraph formatting, inserting symbols, creating headers and footers, finding out how to check spelling and grammar, adding page breaks, working with document views, learning how to print and convert documents to PDF, adding graphics and clip art, creating and applying formatting using styles, working with outlines and creating and formatting document sections working with columns, inserting section and column breaks, creating and formatting tables, inserting and editing diagrams and use the drawing tools, inserting hyperlinks and WordArt, editing document properties, inserting content from other applications, changing the background of your document and applying a watermark, working with themes, inserting citations, using footnotes, reviewing documents, and tracking changes.
Prealgebra
I can tutor students on operations on integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, radicals, and any basic math that needs review. I can also explain relations and functions using equations, tables, and graphs. Lastly, I can reinforce student's problem solving skills and tutor on real-life uses of math.
Precalculus
I can tutor students in subjects from algebra, analytic geometry, or trigonometry which may or may not be review. I can also explain more advanced concepts such as limits and exponential and logarithmic functions and help students to solve problems that utilize those concepts.
Trigonometry
I can tutor students various topics including angular measure, right triangle and unit circle trigonometry, trigonometric (circular) and inverse trigonometric functions and their graphs, trigonometric identities, conditional trigonometric equations, solution of right triangles, trigonometric form, applications, polar coordinates and graphs and parametric equations and graphs.
