I have a Ph.D. in working with special needs students .I have over 30 years experience both teaching students and teaching teachers at the Masters level. When I began, these students were one of the EH labels, then they were called hyperactive.The label has change...I have successfully worked with students pre-k through 12th. The most recent school in St Johns as a teacher, I worked with 11 ADHD students. The students all had successes.
I have a Ph.D. in special education and my masters' focus and internship was at Vanderbilt Hospital/Peabody working with Autistic and Asperger students in 1969 when the field was just being recognized. I have worked with the two groups ever since and currently work with an Asperger high school student in my classroom. I have also taught graduate level students how to work with students who have these learning differences.

I am an Attorney in Florida (retired) and passed the Florida Bar first try. The Florida Bar is ranked 3rd in the nation for difficulty (after California and New York). I have taught law through local colleges and to Law Enforcement since 1989. I have also taught law to educators and written laws that were implemented in 3 states concerning the mentally ill, abused children, and education of the disabled.
I am a retired lawyer in Florida and have taught criminal justice to law enforcement, educators, and citizens through local and state colleges since 1989. Course have included: Abuse, Constitutional, Criminal Statutes, Juvenile, street law, report writing, testifying (and preparation), and Domestic violence classes.
I have an art and teaching BA from the University of North Carolina. I taught my fist art class at age 12 as an adjunct with the Children's Museum in Jacksonville Florida. My students were 6 and 7 year old. Most recently I taught drawing and black and white photography to a home bound (cancer) high school senior last year. I have an active Florida teacher's certificate in art and have taught art and other subjects since 1969.
I have a Ph.D. in exceptional education with special experience (over 30 years) and graduate level classes in dyslexia. In addition, I have taught other teachers at the graduate level how to modify materials and work with the dyslexic student both within the regular classroom setting and in pull-out or separate class settings. I am familiar with legal accommodations available and have a knowledge of materials available for at home assistance.
I have taught elementary level subjects since 1969. In addition to upper grades, I have taught and or tutored Title I, ESE, and hospital homebound (HHB) students in all subjects at the elementary level. Recently that has included teaching a K-second grader Asperger's student, a gifted cancer student who was in 3rd grade, a fifth grader who had leg surgery, an LD third grader with school phobia, and two fourth graders who had medical stability problems. I also have tutored a gifted 5th grader, another gifted 3rd grader, an ESE 2nd grader, and 2 Kindergarten students in reading.
I have an ESOl endorsement on my active Florida teaching certificate for all 300 hours. I have taught ESOL students, and have successfully taught all five Florida courses to other teachers.
I have an active Florida teaching certificate in art. My BA is in art/education from UNC-CH. My first experience teaching art was at age 12 when I taught drawing and painting to a group of 6 and 7 year old through the Jackosnville Children's Museum. Last year I successfully taught the history of painting and introduction to painting to a homebound senior in high school. I am also an active artist.
I have taught phonics and other basic reading skills since 1969 to ESE students and students who are homebound (HHB) due to illnesses. Last year I completed a 3rd year of work with a 2d grade (HHB) student who tested at the end of the year in upper 4th grade reading. When I began work with this student he was a K student who did not know his alphabet. This year I have tutored 3 Title I students in phonics who post-test scores demonstrated mastery of the subject at grade level or above.
I have a Ph. D. and 30 plus years in teaching special education grades prek through high school. In addition, I have taught college and graduate level course to teachers in ESE. This year I have worked with middle and high school students in math, language arts, social studies, and science. Last year one of my students was a 3.5 year old deaf student. I am National Board Certified in ESE and have been since 2001. I recently renewed that certification through 2021. I also have an active Florida teaching certificate that includes certification in EH, LD, MR.
As an ESE certified teacher, I have successfully taught study skills to students grades k through high school seniors. This year that has included intensive courses focused in the use of reading skills and note taking to middle and high school students with low academic performance. I have taught this both as a formal separate course and as a component of language arts, science, and social studies.
