Greetings, adult learners, parents and future scholars! My philosophy says it all: I have always believed that learning should not be a difficult process. I make learning fun and relatable. English is merely a means of communicating thoughts, feelings and ideas. I teach students how to express themselves well and to feel GOOD about what they have to say. There are tips and tricks that I've shared with students in my 20+ years in education, and I've watched students experience success using what I teach them.

No two students are alike, so I approach each student's learning style with that in mind (even in a classroom of 37). Whatever the need--speaking, writing, reading, spelling, study skills, test anxiety, doubt, fear of failure, etc.--allow my proven methods to render change in your outlook as a life-long learner.

I have taught grades 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12, and have more than 14 years of experience as a college professor of English. I hold a current, valid teaching certificate for ESOL and grades 6-12, English and Language Arts.

I can't wait to meet and work with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I am an avid Bible reader and taught Bible classes for several years. I have also created dramatic performances based on the Bible. When viewing Bible based films, I educate viewers (only when at home) of the liberties taken by the director when scenes are not in keeping with actual biblical occurrences.

Public Speaking

I have been a public speaker for over 15 years. When I requested involvement in Toast Masters, my mentor advised me that the training was not necessary based on my current skills and speaking abilities. I conduct workshops and presentations on a local and statewide level to audiences of parents of school-aged children as well as professionals in higher education including the Florida Department of Education.
