From 2008-2012, I taught at Huntington Learning Center as an ACT/SAT tutor, subject tutor, PERT tutor, TEAS tutor, and general tutor of those aged 5 - adult. In February 2012, I began tutoring privately. I am deeply appreciated as a math tutor, a tutor for accelerated learners, and a teacher for homeschoolers, including those about to begin public education who have fallen far behind educational standards for their age.
I began tutoring peers as an 8th-grader. In high school, I was known as an excellent tutor for chemistry, Algebra II, and editing / grammar. I took pre-med level courses before deciding to attend seminary. Through a 4-year program with courses in theology, history, practical theology, etc., I earned a Master of Divinity across the street from the University of Chicago. At that time, I had full use of the UC library.
I believe the more students engage in multi-sensory learning, the more long-term the learning will be. I teach my students study methods and accountability for daily rehearsing of material they seek to master. Additionally, I have the ability to tutor in high school Spanish I and II and beginner-level piano/music theory. I have five years' experience as a substitute teacher, nine years' experience as a pastor, and a passion for giving families with precocious preschoolers a chance to let their children thrive. I passed the Subject Area Examination SAE for Social Sciences grades 6-12 in 2008 after five days of study. I passed the SAE for Math grades 9-12 in 2012 after three days of study.
My son is a 4th-grade gifted student. My husband is an 8th-grade science teacher. I volunteer at my son's school.
