I can offer you outstanding mastery of HTML and CSS, and Word / Powerpoint / Excel, and web design and Photoshop. My high-school web design students regularly won district-level and state-level competitions in these subjects, and my most recent web design student (a college student, age 50+, with no experience) received a score of 100% on his college-level project with my instruction. I spent 7 years teaching Web Design and related subjects in the local public high schools, and at Broward College, to students of all ages (14-65) and with all levels of experience, from beginner on up.

Aside from computer-related disciplines, I can help with anything English-language related. Proofreading, editing, grammar, spelling, reading, writing, literature, etc. I have a bachelor's degree in English, have supervised and trained copy editors and proofreaders, and have been a proofreader and editor for professional/academic publications and corporate interests.

I have played since I was a small child, participated in tournaments (and won a few), and even refereed a tournament or two in college. I have taught many people to play, ranging from childhood to adults. I can offer more than just the basic moves - good, sound strategy, exercises, techniques, traps to avoid, puzzles, and general theory. I enjoy playing and teaching chess.

I took and passed the Broward County Public Schools ESOL curriculum, and became qualified to teach students whose native language was not English, in my subject areas. I often interacted with students whose native languages included Spanish and Russian. I do not speak these languages fluently, however.

General Computer

I have taught computer-related courses for seven years in the public high schools and for Broward College. My most in-depth knowledge is of HTML and CSS (Web Design), but I have also taught Photoshop and general Windows courses, along with years of experience teaching Microsoft Office - Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. I can show you how to accomplish specific objectives, or concentrate on general knowledge - whatever would be of most benefit to you.

I have a bachelor's degree in English, tutored freshman students in the Writing Lab, proofread scholarly articles for the language professors' professional journal, and have hired and trained copy editors and proofreaders. I can promise you that my grasp of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and literary devices will provide the guidance you need to score well on any standardized test of reading, writing, English, and vocabulary.

Web Design

I spent 7 years teaching Web Design and related subjects in the local public high schools. My students regularly won Web Design competitions and created web sites on a par with professional designs. In addition, I have built several professional web sites and taught Web Design at a local community college.

Great Experience! John is one of those rare breed of teachers who knows his material intimately and can also teach it. As a late in life learner, I re-entered the learning environment with some trepidation. John built an immediate personal relationship with me, knew exactly what I needed and took me through it patiently. 5 Stars! ...
