I have been a Substitute Teacher for 15 years. At Manatee Bay Elementary in Weston, I worked for one year as an ESOL teacher in Reading and Math. I have also worked for Lingua Internation teaching English, and as an independent contractor teaching English to members of a church in Southwest Ranches near Weston.

I have a Masters Degree in Museum Studies/Anthropology from George Washington University, in Washington, DC. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art/Spanish.

I have worked at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Traveling has brought me to many countries in Latin America such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

I like to ask the student about their fluency from the beginning and ask them what areas they would like to study and become fluent in.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL/ESOL in the public school system in Broward County, at the elementary school level. I was an ESOL instructor through Lingua International. Also, I have taught adults, in a group situation, who were not fluent in English, and wanted to learn English.

I have traveled extensively throughout Latin America. Please consider me to be your tutor.

Phonics

I have been an ESOL reading teacher at Manatee Bay Elementary in 2008. I have been an elementary substitute teacher for 18 years in FL and VA.

Reading

I taught ESOL reading for a year at Manatee Bay Elementary school. I work with grade levels K through 5th on a regular basis.

I have been speaking Spanish for 30 years now. I went to school in Mexico for a year. I have been a substitute teacher for 18 years and an ESOL teacher at an elementary school for one year. Please feel free to contact me.
