I am an undergraduate student in English and linguistics with a specialization in American literature. I have always excelled in areas such as English, literature, grammar, phonics, and writing. I am enthusiastic about teaching all levels, from elementary spelling and reading to high school SAT and ACT test preparation to undergraduate essay composition.
I actually began tutoring pre-algebra, algebra I, and algebra II while still in high school. Around the same time, a friend of my mother’s was in search of a Spanish tutor for her son, who was in the 9th grade. Thereafter, I tutored children of all ages and in various subjects. I have worked with elementary students learning how to read or master multiplication facts. I have tutored middle school students in pre-algebra, helped high school students seeking assistance for their SAT and ACT exams, and proofread countless college essays.
Over the years, I have ascertained that tutors must continually learn and adapt, because each student requires a different learning strategy. My goal is to take a subject and break it down so it becomes easier to understand. One thing that I have taken away from tutoring is that whatever I am teaching, I try to make it interesting or use creative approaches.
