Hey there! I started tutoring when my little brother needed help with his homework in elementary school. I became a math tutor in high school, working through a math club. After getting into college, I tutored math for Hillsborough Community Colleges and The University of South Florida. I also help students with other things occasionally, such as essay writing. I am the oldest of four children, and help them with their math homework occasionally. I have served as a life group leader and youth leader at churches and also have served in the children's and youth ministries on Sunday. I myself am a devout Christian and know that God wants me to teach math as a profession. That being said, I don't force my religion on anyone. Overall, math is typically what I tutor, but if there is a need for tutoring other subjects, I can make it happen. I am looking forward to being your tutor!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I teach all the required standards within the Common Core State Standards. They have algebra (both 1 & 2) broken down into a few categories, and I am comfortable with all of them.

Algebra 2

Algebra II and College Algebra are fairly similar, and I teach both more often that almost any subject (next to Geometry perhaps). I have been teaching this subject for over five years now, and have the topics down to a science. There is a clean progression from topic to topic when Algebra II is taught correctly, and with my experience the class can be made to be enjoyable and fully understandable.

Calculus

I took Calculus 2 and 3 my freshman year of college, and have since put them to practice in tutoring locations such as the Brandon HCC and the University of South Florida. I have a copy of a text which encompasses all three of the Calculus classes- differential, integral, and multi-variable. I also stay up to date on topics in Calculus using websites.

Elementary (K-6th)

I believe I can adequately tutor grades k-6 because I have tutored my three younger siblings since they were in kindergarten themselves. I still tutor them today, from 4th grade to 5th grade to 7th. I also tutor the middle school students that come to youth at church on Wednesday nights. I serve in the children's ministry on Sunday mornings where we hold our own "mini service" for k-5 children. I am in charge of 5th grade, but help with other grades as well.

Geometry

I teach all the required subjects within the Common Core State Standards. They have Geometry broken down into a few categories, and I am comfortable with all of them.

Trigonometry

I teach all the required subjects within the Sunshine State Standards. They have Trigonometry broken down into a few categories:
Standard 1: Trigonometric Functions
Standard 2: Trigonometry in Triangles
Standard 3: Trigonometric Identities and Equations
Standard 4: Polar Coordinates and Trigonometric Form of Complex Numbers
Standard 5: Mathematical Reasoning and Problem Solving
