Greetings!
My name is Robert, and I truly enjoy teaching. There is something very rewarding about watching somebody who has been struggling to understand something finally "get it." That's what teaching is all about - explaining (and often re-explaining) something in such a way that your student gets it. More often than not, the struggle to learn is not the fault of the student, but the fault of the learning environment. One-on-one teaching and learning allows the teacher to tailor the instruction to how the student learns. That is the ideal learning environment.
As a private tutor, I do more than simply teach the subject. I teach the student. Every student has a personal learning style. That learning style determines how we best assimilate information. It also determines what subjects we like, how we perform in class and on tests, and our study habits. "Teaching the student" involves showing the student how to use and expand his or her individual learning style to assimilate information irrespective of the subject.
Of course, you will be hiring me to teach something specific. I am certified by WyzAnt to tutor in several different subjects and to prepare students for many standardized tests. Helping my students "get it," often involves explaining complicated things in simple terms. This is challenge and the reward of tutoring. I believe that, if my student isn't learning, then I'm not teaching. It isn't the student's responsibility to rise to the level at which I am teaching. It is my responsibility to find the level at which the student is learning. That is what makes me a good tutor.
Every student is different and deserves a different approach to learning. If you want a tutor who will take the time and make the effort to understand your or your child's learning style; and who tailors each and every lesson to the student, contact me. I really do help my students "get" what they are having difficulty understanding. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Robert
