I am a storyteller. I enjoy telling stories because words are one of the most powerful tools that anyone can have in their possession. Words have the power to change a life for better or for worse. As a writer and an editor, I enjoy helping people craft that one beautiful sentence that leads to the second beautiful sentence, and the third sentence -- until the page is filled with a work of art in words.
My longtime profession was as a newspaper journalist, where I worked as a writer and editor. I've worked at newspapers from Florida to New York and over the years I have interviewed celebrities, politicians, musicians, and just plain folk, all with a story to tell. I once interviewed a woman who enjoyed collecting camels. She had more than 500 camel objects in her possession. The smallest camel in her collection was painted on a single grain of rice!
I was an adjunct college instructor for three years, teaching basic composition and writing. In addition, I worked as a substitute teacher in the local school system for almost a year. I am also a member of a professional fiction and non-fiction writer's group.
Writing is a skill that can be developed and honed with practice. I believe that in order to learn to write and to write well, that it is important to write everyday. It doesn't matter what you write, as long as you commit to writing something.
I would like to share my love of words and their universal power.
