My name is Anita. I am a former bank executive, with many years of experience in business, finance and computer applications. I have a Master's degree in Management Information Systems. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at a local State College, where I teach Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Besides tutoring and teaching, I am also a Information Security Analyst. I work with banks to assess and improve their information security program, policies and procedures.
My teaching philosophy is one of discovery, particularly focusing on critical thinking in order to encourage and help my students practice and excel in self-discovery. The students’ ability to use and master critical thinking is one of the skills needed to help them to excel in their learning objectives and career goals. As a former bank executive with over thirty years’ experience as a finance and information security professional, I have many life experiences I can use in discussions and critical thinking exercises with my students. I encourage the students to use reflection, reasons and alternatives as critical thinking strategies. I ask questions and encourage the students to formulate questions, rather than statements. I also encourage free thinking and free association and stress that there may not always be one right answer or solution. The process of individual free thinking or brainstorming with others, without the fear or restriction of voicing the “wrong” answer, allows the students to exercise critical thinking to help identify and discuss many aspects and solutions.
I am available to help students of all ages.
