Teaching is my passion. I love people and my students in particular. I have many years of teaching experience. My credentials include a Bachelor of Science
degree in Education from Auburn University and additional Education coursework from the University of California. I have taught throughout the United States and in Europe. I am a member of Sunshine State Teachers of English
to Speakers of Other Languages and hold a lifetime teaching credential from California.
In the beginning of my career, I taught third grade
, all subjects, in Alabama. From there I moved to Germany and spent four years teaching Adult Basic Education courses to U.S. military personnel. I also taught first and second grades in the U.S. dependent school system. Upon returning to the U.S., I taught Adult Basic Education and GED
Preparation courses in Lawton, Oklahoma. After relocating to Monterey, California, I began my career in teaching ESL
, which I have successfully continued. I have taught ESL in California, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and now in Orlando, Florida. These positions have been in public school systems, private schools, a community college, and a university. I have taught all skills of ESL, including listening, speaking, grammar
, and writing
. While most of my students have been adults, I have taught many children over the years. I enjoy teaching all ages of learners. In addition to ESL, other subjects I enjoy teaching are grammar, reading, spelling
, and writing.
Learning another language
is very difficult. To be successful, a student must have a patient, understanding, and compassionate teacher. This is my personality and my teaching style, and this has helped me to be successful in my career. The student must feel comfortable and confident that he or she can succeed. Through the years I have helped many students achieve their goals, and I would love to have the opportunity to help you or your child do the same.
