As a biomedical major, I am educated in the undergraduate prerequisite classes required for Florida nursing school candidates. I am qualified to assist in the preparation for Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II course studies for undergraduates. Methods of facilitating learning and refresher sessions for pre-nursing school students, first year nursing students and other pre-med students include practice tests, medical terminology drills and quizzes. Reference materials used: Pearson's Human Anatomy & Physiology (8th edition), Atlas of the Human Body, Second Edition, Barron's Medical guide and Mosby's A & P Study & Review cards. I am also experienced in practical laboratory exam preparation, including: how to study the various models of the heart and learn the cardiovascular system, how to learn the entire endocrine system in two weeks, including histology slide identification and tricks for learning the various pathways of the human body for final examinations.

As a non-traditional college student, I began studying chemistry for the first time in the fall of 2011. It is important to learn basic college chemistry concepts prior to enrolling in general chemistry I, unless you have an exceptionally patient and excellent instructor. My experience studying chemistry has taught me it is best to grasp the fundamentals of any new subject prior to enrolling in a fast-paced general chemistry course where prior knowledge is expected. I have achieved a 3.66 GPA in intro to chemistry, general chemistry I and laboratory courses. With an A in Introductory Chemistry, I am equipped to tutor beginning college chemistry and general chemistry students. This is one of my favorite subjects. In fact, I also enjoy working with chemistry students as a writing consultant for formal lab reports. With a 4.0 in Technical writing, I am equipped with knowledge and expertise to assist you in learning the discourse of scientific lab reporting. I achieved high scores on all chemistry lab reports written in college. With an A in General Chemistry Lab, I will share specific lab report writing tips which can help you improve your grades in the lab.
As an Environmental Studies and Civic Urbanism major at Rollins College, I am a full time student. During Fall 2013, I successfully completed a 6 college credit Ecology with Lab course. Course content included environmental problems, their causes, and sustainability; science, matter, energy, and systems; ecosystems and how they work; biodiversity, species interactions, population control, and evolution; and climate and aquatic biodiversity. I've also completed introductory university courses in both Environmental Science and Oceanography, earning high marks in all labs, reports, and examinations. I can coach any student in preparation for comprehensive exams, as well as consult on scientific lab and ecological, environmental, and oceanography report writing assignments.
I am certified for tutoring elementary math, science, reading, spelling and vocabulary. I enjoy teaching these subjects in creative ways, including engaging students in writing short stories using their own drawings. I find that young children learn more when they are having fun, not being pressured. Labeling exercises and short questions and answers enable me to keep a student engaged in learning each subject.

Learning a new language can be challenging. I have experience writing consulting with international students at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and the UCF/BCC Joint Writing Center (now known as Eastern Florida State College) in Cocoa, Florida. My background also includes conversational English practice with adult and college students during my volunteer work at a Multilingual, Multicultural Center on the UCF campus in Orlando. I am familiar with conversing with and tutoring college students from many regions. I have experience working with adults and college students from the continent of Asia, the Mediterranean region, Europe, South America, the West Indies, and several of the Caribbean Islands. Some of the countries students originated from include: Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, India, Germany, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Venezuela. Additionally, my second language is German, and my personal travels have taken me throughout the United States, England, Holland, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. I thoroughly enjoy conversations and tutoring sessions with students of all nationalities. As a native English speaker and writer, I can assist in increasing vocabulary, learning basic English grammar and providing engaging discussions and lessons. My education includes a writing consulting theory and practice course with a lab in which I studied ESL/ESOL tutoring, also gaining valuable experience tutoring in the UCF Center for Writing Excellence. Obtaining a GED is extremely important and will open the door to a college education. Without a high school diploma, you need to take a GED test in order to continue your education. I am equipped to assist you in reviewing the necessary subject material needed to pass this General Education test.
I am certified to tutor English grammar for children and adults. My experience teaching high school and college essay writing to native and non-native English speaking students is varied. Using collaborative teaching methods, I help writers improve their skills while working as a team. Using a global approach, improving English grammar can be a fun experience working with me. I use a variety of essay topics and we will strengthen vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar, through a series of interactive techniques. Improving English grammar can be fun!
I took the pre-nursing microbiology course taught by one of the toughest BCC biology professors and earned an A. I think this topic is unique and interesting! Working in the lab with gram staining can be fun but for some people it is a struggle. I'm happy to help you in any way I can.
My experience and education in biomedical/nursing prerequisite courses in 2011-2012, (anatomy & physiology I & II, microbiology, general chemistry I, general biology I, developmental psychology), provided me with the four main laboratory courses which prepared me in life and health science topics. I worked for a year in a wellness center focused on health and fitness while completing my degree. I also have professional experience as a writing consultant with the University of Central Florida, working with registered nurses, health services undergraduate and nursing graduate students. I can assist with science topics, as well as, writing research papers for nursing and health services programs.
I have used the hooked on phonics techniques to teach my own children to speak English at a young age. I prefer to use flashcards and recordings which enhance the opportunity for the student to have repetition which leads to better recall.
In 2012 I graduated from Eastern Florida State College with a Scientific Workplace Specialist Certificate in Chemical Technology/Biomedical. This major included studies in several university physical science courses (including two chemistry courses and an oceanography course), which covered the laws of thermodynamics, energy and systems, energy conservation, endothermic chemical reactions, enthalpy changes in reactions, plate tectonics; molecular structure, molecular geometry (VSEPR theory), and bonding; balancing chemical equations; and spectroscopy using Vernier spectrometry software (labs included measuring and analyzing visible light absorbance spectra of different aqueous dye mixtures to determine absorbance spectrums/comparisons of food dyes). I also have experience with chemical laboratory titrations and computer simulated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), a biological titration.
I am knowledgeable about human physiology. Having successfully completed all of the nursing school prerequisite courses, including Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II--I am well equipped to assist in learning human physiology. I received high marks in all of my biomedical courses. Science education is my passion and I enthusiastically share my knowledge with each student.
My experience includes teaching junior legal secretaries to proofread legal documents, tutoring UCF students in proofreading techniques, and working with ESL students learning to proofread English research papers.

I am certified with 100% accuracy in SAT reading. As an avid lifelong reader and professional university writing consultant and independent tutor, I have experience working with all ages. I enjoy reading and am equipped to assist in the preparation for SAT reading examination. With a 4.0 GPA in all communications courses in college, I am an excellent reader and communicator capable of sharing knowledge and study tips for success in passing SAT reading. My experience as an English writing tutor in a university writing center is ongoing. Becoming a good writer is a process. Each writing assignment is one lesson in preparation for taking the SAT writing portion of the test. Practicing proper grammar and punctuation is a necessary part of the learning process. The SAT test is challenging and requires knowledge of English and the skill to craft a sentence. Sentence structure, punctuation and grammar will be tested thoroughly. Being prepared for this test is the key to success. I provide structured and collaborative writing exercises that will improve any student's writing skills, at any stage of the writing process.
With a 4.0 GPA in speech and all communications courses, giving presentations is one of my favorite things to do. As a Phi Theta Kappa honor society member I know how to study for exams! My high GPA is due to the fact that I've perfected my study skills and learned that procrastination must not exist! I am a native English speaking resident of the United States. Born and raised in Florida, I was educated in the parochial elementary school system within the Diocese of Orlando. My high school education was based in Orlando for the first year and a half in a private school where I began studying foreign language. I graduated High School with a 4.0 GPA in English. Since elementary school I have excelled in all English and Communications courses, earning A's or 90-100% on nearly every English/Writing assignment or exam. I also earned A's in Technical Writing, English Composition I & II, Speech/Presentations, Writing Consulting Theory & Practice, and a B in Creative Writing; all at the college level. I've taught English, Expository Writing, Reading, Handwriting, and English Quiz/Exam taking strategies to students of all ages (from Kindergarten to College Graduate School level) for the past year. Currently I volunteer at UCF's Multilingual Multicultural Center as a Conversation Hour Partner and have been employed part time since October 2012 at the BCC-UCF Writing Center in Cocoa, FL and then the UWC-UCF's Center for Writing Excellence in Orlando, FL, as a peer Writing Consultant. I began private tutoring during Fall of 2012 and have worked with several non-native English speaking students during the past school year and into the summer of 2013.
Vocabulary for the elementary aged child is essential for building a strong foundation. A variety of methods can be used to teach vocabulary, some of which involve computer games, board games and the age old flash cards. Creative ways in which I engage elementary children include labeling games and drawings with seasonal themes. For ADULTS, I am happy to provide assistance in MEDICAL or LEGAL terminology. I maintain a library with both Black's Law Dictionary and a current Medical Dictionary. Custom crossword puzzles and other assignments are available to challenge you in expanding your chosen profession's vocabulary. I also assist non-native English speaking students with increasing vocabulary, through writing and conversational techniques. Increasing vocabulary can be fun!
