If you are looking for an affordable English or Science tutor, please review my profile. I'm employed part-time as a Writing Consultant with UCF's writing center. I enjoy helping others improve their writing skills and would be delighted to provide a structured review of any writing assignment. I have experience providing feedback for English composition essays, business marketing plans, business reports, medical research papers, graduate nursing writing assignments, chemistry lab reports and other documents. Writing projects are not required to be academic in nature. If you are writing a manuscript, blog, pages for a business website, scholarship essay or a resume, I can help. My background also includes drafting legal documents, business correspondence and real estate advertisements.
I've worked with attorneys, accountants, court reporters, business administrators, and students of all ages. With a 4.0 GPA in all English communications courses, it was a natural progression for me to become a writing consultant with the college. My background enables me to be versatile, as I have supervised word processing departments, proofread hundreds (possibly thousands) of legal, accounting and engineering documents while employed by several corporations. Recent personal experience writing biology, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and chemistry lab reports in my pursuit of a certificate in Scientific Workplace Preparedness has equipped me to consult with all types of technical writers. Currently, I am consulting with student writers in the Health Service Administration programs (undergrad and graduate level). Additionally, I am well equipped to assist all non-native English speaking students to improve writing skills at all levels of the writing process.
My experience tutoring high school and college students has allowed me to encourage and assist in a manner which is less rigid. I'm skilled at leading a student in a positive way which provides the framework for learning and building confidence. When a student is struggling with assignments, I feel it is important for a student to receive one-on-one, face to face instruction in a non-judgmental environment. I'm experienced in teaching students who have lost confidence and/or experienced anxiety related to preparing for and taking exams. My background also includes helping writers overcome what is commonly known as "writer's block." Occasionally, a student will request tutoring in one subject area and our relationship will evolve into one where I am able to see related issues which affect their ability to succeed. As an encourager, my lesson plans are customized for each individual learner.
I'm experienced with general education subjects and specific science subjects. This allows me to assist not only in providing feedback for English composition, grammar and punctuation, but also in content review which may be more important to a teacher of scientific topics. As a chemistry/biomedical major in college, I am also knowledgeable and experienced with undergraduate and nursing graduate research papers. The technical nature of my work experiences has provided me with an intuitive confidence level which exceeds many. When others fear failure, I see opportunity and have an optimistic outlook. I believe this confidence is a positive experience for my students and that it is also contagious. My preference is to believe anything is possible, given the right circumstances and time frame for accomplishment. This does not mean I am a miracle worker, and that your term paper will achieve an "A" if you come to me at the 11th hour.
My assistance will certainly improve your writing skills and take your confidence to the next level. If time is of the essence and a student is not willing to invest the time I recommend they spend doing homework (yes, I assign homework!), between our tutoring sessions--the student will achieve exactly what they are willing to earn. My assistance provides much more than "tutoring by the hour." I communicate with my students, collaborate on homework and lesson plans, as well as, provide a solid foundation for learning how to improve one's English and composition skills. Writing is critical to success in business, academia, and non-profit organizations. If you desire an increased confidence in your writing skills or know someone who could benefit from my expertise, please contact me today.
If you have any questions concerning the process, please let me know. Email me directly from this website and I will respond at my earliest convenience (my average response time is tracked by the website and noted at the top of my profile). Once you place your payment information online, I will receive instant notification with your phone number. At this point, I will call you as soon as I am available to do so. I return all phone calls within 4 hours, often within 15 minutes if I am not in a writing consulting session or classroom at UCF. Please feel free to call me between the hours of 9am and 5pm. I request that you be prepared to leave a detailed message including your name, telephone number, and the best time to contact you.
Wishing you a beautiful and sunshiny day. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
