I am a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame where I studied Math and International Development. I am currently teaching high school math at a private school, and I'm taking classes to earn my teaching certification for Math grades 6-12. I specialize in tutoring students in mathematics (basic math, algebra I and II, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics), economics, and Spanish. I am also very good at test prep - I received a 35 (out of 36) on my ACT in high school, and in the 94th percentile (verbal) and the 99th percentile (quantitative) on the GRE. In addition, I can help students with middle-school science, some high school science (physics, biology, chemistry), and English.

I also teach piano lessons to beginner students. I prefer to use Faber and Faber method books. I stress proper technique and music theory as well as helping students to find their passion in making music by experimenting with different styles such as classical, jazz, and pop music.

I have worked with elementary school, middle school, and high school students as well as college students and adults. I am passionate about teaching and tutoring, and I strive for the students to learn how to learn and how to take charge of their own learning. I am warm and understanding, and I truly enjoy tutoring.

Rates may be negotiable for longer sessions if they are scheduled on a regular basis and at the public library in downtown Orlando or in the 32803 area.

Spanish

I took three years of Spanish in high school and four semesters in college including a 300 level literature class. I earned a A or A- in all of my Spanish classes. I also studied Spanish in Guatemala at a language school for five weeks in 2010.

Piano

I began playing the piano in elementary school, and I took private piano lessons for eight years. I was the pianist for my high school's jazz band for four years. I have taught private piano lessons to a total of 12 elementary school students for five years. I generally use the Faber & Faber book series for teaching.

Study Skills

I have worked with many students in study skills. I mentored 20 middle school students for 2 years assisting them in study skills including reading comprehension, organization, time management, and planning. I currently teach high school and work with students in developing their study skills.

Flute

I played flute throughout high school in concert band and high school. I was a section leader and helped others in my section learn how to play rhythms and notes correctly. I also took private flute lessons for one year.

Linear Algebra

I took linear algebra as a college freshman at Notre Dame and received an 'A' in the course.
