As a teacher, my philosophy has been to inspire excellence in every single student. I strive to do my very best to help each to reach their true potential so that they feel confident and proud in showing off their unique abilities and attributes. I don’t believe in “good” and “bad” students, only those who see things quickly and those who need to look at things from a few more angles to appreciate and fully understand them. I do believe that using creativity in critical thinking and problem solving is essential for me as an educator in understanding how my students learn, and is also something I encourage my students to put into practice, so they may approach all of their challenges with a thoughtful open mind. In class and in life, not every problem will look exactly like the 50 you had yesterday, so being able to break down the concepts for yourself is way more important than just learning the right answer or repeating the same exact steps over and over again!
A product of the Clay County school system myself, I’ve gone through pre-IB and AP classes in two of Clay Co.’s high schools, and tackled the SAT and ACT with scores in the 93rd and 96th percentiles. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Florida State with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude (for those with GPA of 3.9+) and minored in Art History. I taught high school art in Clay County for two years prior to changing my focus to one-on-one instruction, and also taught Elementary Gifted and Advanced Math for two teachers on maternity leave. Since joining WyzAnt, I have helped numerous students to bring up their class grades, pass their Geometry and Algebra EOC exams, improve their ACT and SAT scores, develop their writing abilities, and increase their reading skills. I hold a valid Professional Educator’s Certificate in the state of Florida with coverage in Art K-12, Humanities K-12, English 6-12, and Mathematics 6-12, and as a licensed teacher, have undergone numerous background checks and have my fingerprints on file with multiple counties. Below, you can see a full list of subjects in which I’m qualified and available to tutor!
I'm young, energetic, and patient, and work hard to reach the interests and levels of understanding of each individual student-no "cookie cutter" steps or practices. Contact me today if you think I might be the one to help your child reach his or her full potential, or help you meet yours! I truly look forward to working with you!

Art history was my concentration within my Art Ed major, and my favorite subject of all!
Like traditional history, art history allows us to study political and social events throughout time but instead of focusing solely on dry facts, it provides us with a different perspective by exploring the human reaction to the times. Studying the subject of art history fosters the development of skills in observation, interpretation, creating persuasive arguments, and understanding non-verbal communication, all of which strengthen your skills in literature, writing, and deciphering visual media (like advertisements).
This applies to AP Art History for high school students, or for college, relevant courses would be Humanities I & II, Art History I & II (also can be called History & Criticism I & II or Art History Survey), and some upper level specialized courses. My upper level concentration was in Gothic and Renaissance periods.
I graduated from a major four-year institution in the top five percent of my class. My success was definitely dependent on planning and having a great understanding of university advising. I can help high school seniors with preparing college applications, or college students with learning essential advising tools and figuring out course planning needs. Feel free to contact me if you need a coach to help you on your journey to higher education!
Drawing is the most basic building block of art making. While it is definitely an art form on its own, it is a necessary component in planning for all types of art. Learn how to sketch, study proportion and perspective, shade, and more. Drawing media most commonly include graphite/pencil, colored pencil, pastels and charcoal. Drawing has been one of my personal favorite things to study in my years as an art student. Whether you're looking to get some extra practice in or begin a new hobby, let me know!
One of the most expressive and traditional art forms, painting is a truly fun media to study, with endless possibilities. I have had experience with watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint in my 12 years as an art student and teacher. Painting is especially great for those who prefer more relaxed methods because of its forgiving nature, though detailed artworks are definitely possible too! Whether you are a student looking for some extra practice or a beginner wanting to start a new hobby, I can help you out!
Required now by nearly every college program, the study of Public Speaking gives you the tools you need to be able to present yourself clearly, intelligently, and confidently in front of others. Being able to express yourself through speaking is a necessary part of presenting yourself as a professional. Speaking before a crowd is a very natural and extremely common fear, but tackling it will help you excel in job interviews, presentations, and even leadership roles. As someone who was once shy and had to overcome that fear for teaching and for becoming a major advocate with a local non-profit, I can help you build your confidence whether your future includes speaking in front of a crowd of two or two thousand!
There are several basic habits that are helpful for students of any age group when it comes to approaching school work. If you think your grades are lower than you're hoping, for reasons other than not understanding the subject matter, I can help you figure out a few tricks that can help *you* for the rest of your school career!

Above and beyond — Allyson goes above and beyond. My son is 14 years old and has always been in ESE. Allyson is very creative in her ways of instructing him and leaves us with a "Wow factor" every time she is here. She is definitely one smart cookie and loves to make a positive difference in one's learning abilities. I have really noticed a new sense of enthusiasm for learning in my son and he is grasping and ret ...
