Looking for that extra boost in reading, grammar and basic math comprehension? I have over a year's experience working with teenagers who have fallen--sometimes dramatically--behind in basic skills. My experience has been mainly with incarcerated youth, so I have plenty of practice in patience and perseverance. I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis on English. I would love to help you or your child bolster skills that will take him or her well beyond the classroom and into a productive and meaningful life.
My approach is to ascertain where the student needs help and to use current and previous assignments as reference points for targeting problem areas. This is a cooperative process between the student and me. I see myself as a facilitator of learning.
Because I have only a part-time job, I have great flexibility in my schedule. Rates are negotiable, as my goal is to ensure the success of the student.
