I'm a geek, and love geeky kids. Science experiments are my thing, I can make any science interesting. Teaching the math behind propulsion by making a rocket out of matchsticks and a paperclip? Absolutely. Chemical reactions by making invisible ink? Bring it on. I'm a rare mix of a science nerd with a gift for English. I can totally relate to kids with a strong suit in math, while helping with reading and literature.

I also tutor high school and college students in English. I can also absolutely do awesome science experiments with them.

For the past year, I have been the nanny and homework helper to two wonderful girls, one in primary school and one in Pre-K. I am completely open to a babysitting/tutoring combo with children ages 4 and up. I live with my husband and dog near Winter Garden, FL, and am open to meeting at your home or at a local library. I am also willing to use Skype. Please feel free to message me about current availability, as the times change often due to student's schedules!

My day job is at Walt Disney World as a cast member. I am currently establishing residency in Florida to finish my last year in college at UCF. My major is communications, and I specialize in media and the promotion of scientific literacy. I have interned at a science and history museum, and grew up on a horse farm. I was married just this May, and am new to the Orlando area, but I am loving it!

ACT English

I scored 31 on my ACT Reading, and a 33 on my ACT English.

American History

I earned an AH in American History I Honors at a college level. I also earned an A in the same course in high school.

Elementary Math

I can tutor through 7th grade math.

Elementary Science

I believe this is better than grown up science.

I have received A's in all English classes I have taken in high school and college.

Since middle school and through college, I have worked with many ESL students on improving their understanding of the language. There is a huge difference between checking academic papers for grammatical errors, and actually helping the student understand how to write. Most of the students I have worked have had Chinese or Japanese as their first language, but I also have minor experience with Arabic, Hindi, Urdu and Spanish. I am not fluent in these languages, but do have experience in helping students learn ESL from these backgrounds.

General Computer

Nerd, here. I have taught general computer skills to everyone from 6-year-olds to small companies. I firmly believe that computer literacy is a cornerstone of any student's scholarly career.

Government & Politics

I have received an honors credit for Government in college.

I earned all A's in lit courses in high school and am currently in American Lit I in college.

Public Speaking

I have received two A's in communication-related courses in college. I took Intro to Communication as an honors course, and earned an AH. I just completed a 3 credit hour Public Speaking course, also earning an A. I have given speeches for my honors program at my school, as well as in multiple leadership conferences. Right now, a photo of me on my school's home page delivering a speech. I would be happy to submit proof of my A in my public speaking course if required.

Study Skills

I am an honors student with a 3.85 GPA in college. I graduated high school with a 3.81. I regularly help friends study, and believe in both tactile and visual methods of studying. I earned my grades by learning to study, and working my dyslexia. I believe these credentials would help other students with similar learning difficulties.
